Andrew Gamble is Professor of Politics and a Fellow of Queens’ College at the University of Cambridge. Formerly he was Professor of Politics at the University of Sheffield. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and joint editor of The Political Quarterly. He has published widely on British politics, public policy, and political economy. In 2005 he was awarded the PSA Isaiah Berlin prize for Lifetime Contribution to Political Studies. His books include The Conservative Nation (1974); Britain in Decline (1981); The Free Economy and the Strong State (1988); Hayek: the iron cage of liberty (1996); Politics and Fate (2000); and Between Europe and America: the future of British politics (2006).
