Keith Ajegbo was Head of Deptford Green school for 20 years, retiring in July 2006. Deptford Green is a mixed comprehensive in North Lewisham with a multi cultural intake in a socio- economically deprived part of the borough. During his time as Head the school gained a reputation as a neighbourhood school with good academic achievement. It also gained a national reputation for its work in citizenship education. He received the OBE for services to education in 1996 and was knighted in 2007. He led the writing of the report for the Secretary of State for education on ‘Diversity and Citizenship’ launched in January 2007. Keith currently works as an adviser for the DCSF, for Future Leaders, as a School Improvement Partner for Newham LA, as Chair of the 14-19 Humanities Diploma, as an associate for ICoCo and as Chair of The School Linking Network |
