RCUK Lifelong Health & Wellbeing

The Lifelong Health and Wellbeing (LLHW) programme is a cross-research council initiative, led by the Medical Research Council, in partnership with the UK Health Departments. LLHW funds multidisciplinary research addressing factors throughout life that influence healthy ageing and wellbeing in older age.

Longevity, health and wellbeing are the consequence of a complex mix of genetic, environmental, behavioural, cultural and socio-economic elements. A Strategy for Collaborative Ageing Research in the UK has been developed as part of the programme. It advocates collaboration between experts from all disciplines as a means to solve the challenges an ageing population represents.
