Since 2000, the annual DBA Inclusive Design Challenge – a collaboration between RCA’s Helen Hamlyn Centre and the Design Business Association – has seen 500 professional designers from 41 DBA member firms ‘trade places’ with older and disabled people as part of a mentored scheme lasting four months. Each year the best new design proposal wins the Challenge. The ‘Trading Places’ exhibition showcases a decade of these winning projects. After the Battle of Ideas, Trading Places will travel to the Institute of Human Centered Design in Boston and to Seoul at the invitation of the Korean Institute of Design Promotion and British Council, Korea.
