Dara Akala

Dara is currently responsible for providing support and oversight to Living Earth Foundation’s Nigerian partner organisations in project implementation. Close engagement with Shell International and Shell Nigeria, other donors and government of Nigeria, also form part of his key role. He holds a Ph.D in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ife, Nigeria.  He had post graduate training in Development Project Management from the University of Bradford and NGO Management from the Imperial College. Before coming to the UK in 2006, Dara had a multi-layered experience spanning over 25 years in designing and managing poverty eradication and capacity building programmes within the public and private voluntary sectors in Nigeria. He was the founding Director of Living Earth Nigeria Foundation and he also managed the implementation of an EU-funded €24M Micro Projects Programme in the Niger Delta between 2002 and 2006
