Mayank Shekhar is the National Cultural Editor at the Hindustan Times. He is based in Mumbai and is also responsible for HT Cafe. Prior to joining Hindustan Times, Shekhar was a freelance film critic and columnist, writing regularly for the Mumbai Mirror, and hosting special review and interview shows on NDTV Good Times, NDTV 24x7 and other national channels. He is a member of the Central Board of Film Certification, was the winner of Ramnath Goenka Award for Journalism (2007) and a guest speaker at various media schools. He headed the features team at Mumbai Mirror for two years and was also part of the Mid-Day features team for four years. Shekhar has also authored a book Bombay Talkies (Frog Books, 2006), a critique of contemporary Bollywood cinema, and is in process of finishing two more books on pop culture. |
