Vittorio Pelosi

Vittorio Pelosi studied fine art at a London Art School before becoming one of the leading British society portrait artists of the early noughties, painting actors, musicians and presenters.

From 2006 onwards he began to meet with other artists who were concerned that a certain extremist form of Post Modern Continental philosophy of Art, which states that the artist’s intentions are irrelevant in interpretation, had become the only acceptable way for artists and critics to understand artwork.  Viewing contemporary art they saw artistic voices that lacked confidence and artwork that seemed increasingly anaemic and ashamed of its human origins. This group of artists began to be known as Intentists; creative individuals who believe that all meaning in the arts is the outworking of intention and create art that celebrates the intention process.
