Cathy Young (born Ekaterina Jung) was born in 1963 in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States with her family in 1980.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Rutgers University.  Young was a weekly op-ed columnist for the Detroit News from 1993 to 2000 and for the Boston Globe from 2000 to 2007. 

Cathy currently writes a column for RealClearPolitics.com.  She is a contributing editor for Reason magazine, where her articles frequently appear.  She has also written for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other leading newspapers, as well as magazines such as the New Republic, the Weekly Standard, National Review and many others, and online publications such as Salon.com and Slate.com. 

She is the author of two books, Growing Up in Moscow: Memories of a Soviet Girlhood (Ticknor & Fields, 1989) and Ceasefire!: Why Women and Men Must Join Forces to Achieve True Equality (The Free Press, 1999), and has contributed essays to a number of other books.  She has appeared on many radio and television programs, from National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation to Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor, and has been a speaker on college campuses across the United States.  She lives in Middletown, New Jersey.
