Harriet Sergeant

Harriet is author of Among the Hoods about her friendship with a South London gang who she got to know while researching her Think Tank report Wasted – the betrayal of black Caribbean and white working class boys.

She has written five other Think Tank reports on the care system, the police, the NHS and immigration. Harriet is also the author of three books besides Among the Hoods: Between the Lines on South Africa under apartheid, Shanghai on that city in the 1920s and 30s and a memoir of Japan where she lived for 7 years. Harriet also writes regularly for the Daily Mail and the Sunday Times.
