Jan Bowman

Originally from Scotland via Canada, Jan trained as an architect and now draws pictures for a living. This is Birmingham, her illustrated history of the Lunar Society and the18th-century Enlightenment, spent nine months on Waterstone’s Recommended list and made her a local celebrity.

She sells her work online, at art fairs and through commissions, gives talks on creativity, and writes on the perils of state interference in the arts. She’s currently researching an illustrated history of Glasgow.
