Mike Short

Mike Short is Senior Vice President, Industry Affairs, based in the UK, with responsibility for SABMiller’s Group strategy for managing through the global Alcohol Regulatory environment.

During the period 2003 to 2009, Mike was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the SABMiller’s Plzenský Prazdroj (Pilsner Urquell) Czech Operation, CEO Dreher Breweries, Hungary, and Chairman of Topvar Breweries, Slovakia.

Mike held the roles of Group Technical Director and Operations Director, SAB Ltd., based in South Africa, where he was also Chairman of SAB’s Namibia operation of SAB Ltd.’s Hop Farms and Maltings. Previously he was General Manager of SAB’s Rosslyn Brewery.

Prior to his brewing career, Mike held Board and Executive positions in South Africa, the UK, France and Canada, in nuclear power generation and engineering project management.

Mike’s earlier leadership experiences were through service in Royal Navy Nuclear Submarines and in the Rolls-Royce Aero Engine Division.

Mike is an Engineering graduate with post graduate qualifications in nuclear engineering and business management.
