Tessa Marchington

Tessa Marchington is a pianist and entrepreneur. Passionate about sharing the many benefits of music, Tessa founded Music in Offices (MIO) in 2006. Since then MIO has brought music to over 750 office workers throughout the UK through setting up office choirs and facilitating music tuition during their working day. Companies including Channel 4, L’Oreal, News International, Standard Chartered Bank, Deloitte, Norton Rose, Christie’s and Herbert Smith all benefit from their services. Through MIO, Tessa continues to develop partnerships with leading Arts organisations including the City of London Festival, Classic Fm and Lucky Voice in order to increase performance platforms for her clients. MIO was shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Award this year. Tessa is increasingly in demand as a speaker and most recently gave presentations at The Guild of Health Writers and The Royal Academy of Music.

As a pianist Tessa completed a post graduate course at The Royal Academy of Music. Committed to the highest level of music making, Tessa has also co-founded the Surrey Hills Music Festival with Wu Qian. This is an annual three day festival featuring the classical musicians including BBC Young Musicians Winners Nicola Benedetti and Natalie Klein, World Champion Harmonica player Philip Achille and Royal Opera House stars Lucy Crowe and Andrew Staples. Education is also at the heart of this festival, and Tessa has lead workshops in local schools on story telling and music through Lieder and Art Song.
