Asher Jacobsberg

Alongside Greg Sanderson, Asher founded involver and the Smart School Councils Community. Both organisations aim to help young people take an active, conscious role in shaping the places they go and the services they use. They work to help schools and other institutions teach about democracy by becoming more democratic.

Asher writes resources and guides for young people and the adults who work with them that help them to take an effective role in decision-making and community action. He also writes and runs training for teachers and students on running inclusive school councils.

He has conducted research and created toolkits for organisations including Parliament’s Education Service, the Children’s Commissioner and Peabody Housing Trust on promoting the participation of young people in their schools and communities.

"Who would choose to go to a session on free will at 10:30 on a Sunday morning? A few hundred of the most engaged, passionate and discursive participants I have encountered.
