Matt Walton is Head of Product for FutureLearn, the first UK-led provider of massive open online courses (MOOCs). Since joining the company in January 2013, he has been instrumental in developing the product vision for FutureLearn.com, and led the team of developers to build the site which launched in beta in September 2013 – nine short months after the idea for the platform was conceived. He continues to be responsible for all aspects of the product. FutureLearn’s first courses begin in October 2013. Matt is a seasoned product manager who has been conceiving, building and delivering web, tablet and mobile products for broadcasters and publishers for more than 13 years. He has been responsible for the successful development of sections of bbc.co.uk, RadioTimes.com as well as number of award-winning informal learning apps for Harper Collins. He has led both editorial and cross discipline development teams, is passionate about agile and lean product development techniques and creating delightful user experiences. He is an active member of London’s growing product management community. Matt is occasionally accused of sounding like John Peel and only ever wears brown shoes. |
