Eugenia Arsenis. Dr. in Philosophical Aesthetics, Director-Dramaturg, has collaborated with international cultural organizations, Royal Albert Hall, San Francisco Opera Center, Center for Contemporary Opera, Skylight Music Theatre, Oakland Opera House, Greek National Opera, Megaron Athens Concert Hall, National Theatre of Northern Greece, Berlin – Dock 11 etc.
For her performance Mendelssohn’s Antigone, which she directed and adapted at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms with the City of London Sinfonia and the BBC Singers, Eugenia was honoured at the Antikenfestpiele in Trier.
She was recently honoured to open the International University Theatre Festival in Casablanca, Morocco. Coordinator and Dramaturg of the Experimental Stage of the Greek National Opera (2004-2011). Speaker at international conference, among others, at the Battle of Ideas International Satellite Programme 2014 in Athens.
Lecturer at numerous universities and artistic institutions. She has taught Directing at the Department of Theatrical Studies/University of Peloponnese (2007-2012), Opera at the Department of Music Studies/Ionian University and at the National Conservatory and she was the coordinator of the Acting for Opera at the Athens Conservatory (2009-2015). She is the designer and coordinator of the Minor in Theater and Performance at the Hellenic American University. Dr. Arsenis studied Dramaturgy and Directing at the Department of Drama, Theatre and Media Arts at Royal Holloway University of London. She pursued her postgraduate research in Philosophy (University College London) and her Doctorate in Philosophical Aesthetics, Opera and Greek Tragedy at the University of London (RHUL). She was Visiting Researcher at the School of Music of the College of Fine Arts at Boston University for Musical Analysis and Opera Directing. Moreover, she studied Film Directing at the New York Film Academy. She was trained over fourteen years in the theory and the performance of music. Holder of numerous scholarships (Fulbright, Onassis, Propondis, National Bank Cultural Foundation, New York Film Academy, Royal Holloway University of London, Hellenic American University, San Francisco Opera Center and the Greek State Scholarship). Board Member of the National Theatre of Northern Greece, Board Member of the Hellenic Theatre Studies Association, regular member of the Greek Directors’ Guild and of the International Theatre Institute.
She is the Dramaturg of the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York. She is the leading art manager of the activist movement “Artivism Drives Democracy” for art and social change with the organization Aesthetic Activists: ParticipARTs.
