Fred Manson

Fred is Associate Director of Heatherwick studio and was London Borough of Southwark Director of Regeneration and Environment from 1994-2001, with responsibility for economic development, planning, property management, environmental management, regeneration, leisure and community services.  He established Southwark as a leading agent of regeneration initiating projects such as Elephant and Castle and Canada Water regeneration.

He was a member of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment design review panel from 2002-2007 and from 2011-present and the CABE schools design review from 2007-2011 and the Olympic Legacy design review. He is also a Chair of the design reviews for the Urban Design London and Transport for London 2009-present. Fred is a former Trustee of Artangel and London Open House (now Open City) each for ten years; a member of the Mayor’s Design Advisory Group and a honorary OBE (2001).
