Nick Hillman has been the Director of HEPI since January 2014 and has recently authored pamphlets on the need for higher education legislation, the removal of student number controls and the Australian student loans system. HEPI publishes an annual survey of full-time undergraduates called the Academic Experience Survey. The 2014 survey, published in May, included an assessment of the well-being of students for the first time. Nick was previously special adviser to the Rt Hon David Willetts MP, the Minister for Universities and Science, and recently published his reflections on working in Whitehall for the Institute for Government. At the 2010 general election, he stood for the Conservative Party in Cambridge and was the runner-up to the Lib Dems. He was previously a History teacher. |
