Koen de Voegt (Antwerp, 1980) is co-chairman of Pirate Parties International (PPI). He was elected this year and shares the presidency of PPI with Maša Utković-Čorak from Croatia. Originally educated as an electronics engineer, he followed a master course in economics and accounting. He is the founder and leader of the Pirate Party in the city and province of Antwerp, Belgium and was a candidate for the 2014 elections in Flanders for the Belgian Pirate Party.
He has been active in the international coordination of the Pirate Parties since 2012. He was also active in the Pirate Parties EU and local election campaigns in Croatia and the regional campaign in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany. Besides that, Koen de Voegt is an active hacker and as such board member of Hackerspace Antwerp (voidwarranties.be), Hackerspace Ghent (0x20.be) and Hackerspace Brussels (hackerspace.be).
