The success of science in general, and medicine in particular, confronts us with new ethical and political challenges. This strand brings together four diverse topics about the impact of new knowledge and the experience of scientific breakthroughs in the past to ask serious questions about the future of medicine, our relationship with animals, the use of scientific claims today and even our attitude to life itself.
