Festival strand: Contemporary Controversies

Too many controversial topics are avoided in today’s ‘safe’ culture. These panel discussions don’t avoid difficult questions, but rather try to interrogate them. Why has female genital mutilation (FGM) become such a cause of concern? Does it matter how people use the English language? Is climate change increasing the risk of floods - and what should we do about it? What will happen in next year’s General Election? These questions and more will be covered.
