National Housing Federation

The National Housing Federation is the voice of affordable housing in England. We believe that everyone should have the home they need at a price they can afford.

That’s why we represent the work of housing associations and campaign for better housing. Our members provide two and a half million homes for more than five million people.

Housing is now a hot topic in political and public debate. The issues thrown up by the housing crisis cut across politics, the environment,  economy, culture and the generational divide. We are supporting this year’s Battle of Ideas because we think it’s important to reach out and participate in those wider debates.

Should we fear democracy?

"Five debates a day sounds a bit daunting beforehand, but I really loved it. The speakers are so knowledgeable and passionate about their chosen topic, and the amount of time dedicated to questions from the audience was great as it really brought in alternative views."
