In partnership with Freiblickinstitut eV, the Academy of Ideas Debating Matters Competition will stage a showcase competition, Debating Matters Berlin, hosted at BiTS Hochschule.

Six schools from across the city will compete in a showcase competition in English. These six schools are:

Eckener-Gymnasium
Georg-Büchner-Gymnasium
Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium
Humboldt-Gymnasium
Leibniz-Schule Berlin
Nelson-Mandela-Schule

Topics up for discussion include: gentrification of neighbourhoods; performance enhancing drugs in sport; the repatriation of cultural artefacts; and if we have a right to be not offended. The debates will be judged by distinguished adults from both Berlin and the UK. Debating Matters is delighted to be working in Germany for the first time.
