He was named best business commentator in the 2014 Comment Awards and his other awards include the 2013 Gerald Loeb prize for commentary in the US. Before joining the FT, he trained as a journalist with Mirror Group Newspapers, working on papers including the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph.
