Dr Funda Tekin

Since February 2013 Funda Tekin has been senior researcher at the Institut für europäische Politik (IEP) in Berlin. In January 2014 she joined the Centre international de formation européenne as Senior Researcher where she contributes to the development of CIFE’s research department. At IEP she is the coordinator of the project “The Truth about Lies on Europe”. The aim of this research is to bring out the prejudices in the German debate on Europe and check the arguments of Eurosceptics for their truthfulness. Afterwards, the results will be provided to relevant decision-makers in politics and civil society.
Funda Tekin holds a PhD from the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. The topic of her dissertation is “Differentiated Integration at Work: The Institutionalisation and Implementation of Opt-Outs from European Integration in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice”.
Further fields of her research and expertise include EU enlargement in general and EU Turkey relations in particular, the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, flexibility and differentiation of EU integration, the added value of Europe as well as the implications of treaty reforms and the institutionalization of the EU.
