Andrew Doyle
stand-up comedian; playwright

Andrew recently appeared in his fifth solo stand-up show Future Tense at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His previous solo shows were Zero Tolerance, Crash Course in Depravity, Whatever It Takes and Minimalism! which transferred to the Soho Theatre, London, earlier this year. His plays include Borderland (national tour for 7:84, Scotland), Jimmy Murphy Makes Amends (BBC Radio 4) and The Second Mr Bailey (BBC Radio 4) which is available on iTunes.

He has written musical adaptations of Terry Pratchett’s Soul Music (Rose Theatre, Kingston), Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio (Castle Theatre, Wellingborough), and last year adapted Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels for the Lyric Theatre, Belfast, in collaboration with platinum-selling singer/songwriter Duke Special. He is currently visiting research fellow at Queen’s University Belfast, and is working on a biography of the novelist Forrest Reid. 

Over the past three years he has contributed introductions to new editions of Reid’s novels, all published by Valancourt Books.
