Martin Crewe
director, Barnado's Scotland

Martin Crewe is Director of Barnardo’s Scotland which works with more than 26,500 children, young people and their families across the country. Martin is also a Corporate Director with responsibilities for Barnardo’s operations across the UK.

He has been a member of the Scottish government’s National Implementation Support Group co-ordinating the implementation of GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child) and was Chair of the GIRFEC Programme Board prior to this.

Martin is currently a member of both the Scottish government’s Ministerial Working Party on Child Sexual Exploitation and the Violence Against Women & Girls Joint Strategic Board. 

Initially trained as a scientist, Martin completed a PhD in Geochemistry. He has worked for a trade union, the National Health Service and charities both big and small. He gained an MBA in 1993 and an MSc in Social Services Management in 2006.  He was also a ‘business excellence’ assessor for Quality Scotland for five years. 

Martin has served on the Boards of several voluntary organisations as well as the Scottish charity regulator (OSCR) and the board of Edinburgh College.
