Professor Clarissa Smith

Clarissa Smith is Professor of Sexual Cultures in the Centre for Research in Media & Cultural Studies at the University of Sunderland. She researches sex, sexual identities and sexual representations in contemporary culture. Her monograph One for the Girls! examines the texts and contexts of pornography for women and she is currently working on a book Sex, Sexualisation and the Media.

Clarissa is a founding editor of the Routledge journal Porn Studies and has acted as an expert witness in cases brought under the extreme porn provisions of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act.
