Dia Chakravarty
political director, The Taxpayers Alliance

Dia joined the Taxpayers’ Alliance as political director in January 2014 and has extensive experience of engaging with the media, as well as parliamentarians across the political spectrum. She has represented the organisation on almost all major news and current affair programmes including BBC Question Time, Any Questions, Newsnight, Daily Politics, BBC Breakfast, Channel 4 News, ITV News and Channel 5 News.

Having read Law at Oxford University, Dia started her career in the City as a tax consultant before moving into communications and public affairs. She worked for Banking on Change, a global partnership between Barclays Bank and two international charities which seeks to extend access to basic financial services through savings-led microfinance. Prior to joining the TPA, she worked at The Freedom Association as deputy director, making the case for freedom of the press and freedom of speech and expression.

Dia is an accomplished singer. Born in Bangladesh, she specialises in Bengali music and has published two critically acclaimed solo albums, A Bloom in Vain and Other Songs and Inheritance
