Matthew Kruger
PhD law student; formerly, legal researcher, Helen Suzman Foundation, Johannesburg, South Africa
Matthew has just started his PhD in the law faculty at King’s College London. His thesis focuses on the philosophical foundations of property and housing rights, with an emphasis on the application of these rights in South Africa. His supervisor is Professor Leif Wenar.
Matthew is an admitted attorney, with two years PQE, and has clerked the Chief Justice of the South African Constitutional Court. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, and has read for the Bachelor of Civil Law and Master of Philosophy in Law at the University of Oxford.
Prior to starting his PhD, Matthew worked as a legal researcher at the Helen Suzman Foundation, a public interest NGO that is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
