Chana Balazs
Middle East Expert; free speech proponent

Chana is a British/Israeli Jew of Hungarian origin. She has lived in Israel for eight years, and has a BA in Arabic and Islamic studies from SOAS, University of London. Chana also has a keen interest in European identity and history, with a particular emphasis on Germany, Eastern Europe and Russia.

She believes that freedom of speech is an essential value of a free and democratic society, and argues that reforms are necessary in the legal systems of Germany and Europe as a whole, in order to protect freedom of speech.
