Ward Verbakel
partner at plusoffice architects, Adj. Prof. At KULeuven

Ward Verbakel is co-founder and partner ofplusoffice architects (Brussels), a firm specializing in urban design, design research and public architecture. His team recently won the Middle Cities Passages competition in Toronto and is constructing schools, local administration buildings and cultural infrastructure throughout Belgium. With their research on the productive city plusoffice participated at the IABR Rotterdam Biennale in 2016.


As Adj. Professor of urbanism Ward is teaching graduation design studio at KULeuven, and previously at GSAPP Columbia University. He is president of the A+ Architecture in Belgium editorial board.
Project and curated the exhibitions ‘Breuckland’ (VAI deSingel), BMA man of thoughts (Bozar).  Ward is curator of the ‘EUTOPIA - possibility of an island’ exhibition in Museum M that opened in Fall 2016 as part of the 500 anniversary of Thomas More book.
