Adam Sampson has been Director of Shelter, the country’s leading housing and homelessness charity, since January 2003.

Following three years (1985-7) as Junior Dean at Brasenose College, Oxford, Adam worked as a probation officer in London until being appointed Deputy Director of the Prison Reform Trust in 1989. He joined the Home Office as Assistant Prisons Ombudsman in 1994, returning to the voluntary sector as Chief Executive of national drugs charity RAPt from 1997 to 2002.

As Director of Shelter, Adam Sampson has broadcast and campaigned vigorously for improved housing policies. Among many high-profile activities, he has been an influential member of the Government’s Home Ownership Task Force, and was closely involved in the Barker Review of Housing.
