Originally trained in history and philosophy of science, Fuller’s academic reputation is based on having founded the interdisciplinary research programme of ‘social epistemology’, which is about how knowledge should be pursued in the future, given how it has been pursued in the past. He founded the first journal and wrote the first book in the field, both over a quarter-century ago. His position is broadly Popperian, namely, that the past has no necessary claim on the future. He is the author of over 20 books and his latest research has been on the future of humanity, especially the idea of ‘Humanity 2.0’.
