Tim Williams found himself receiving credits for watching De Sica and Ford during the first week of his Urban Design Masters degree at Rice University. It soon became apparent that the Italian neo-realist and western genres provided the perfect contrast between European and American consciousness, and indeed between the metropolitan and the Arcadian vision.
Tim became both an architect and urban designer, educated in England and the USA where he practised before joining BDP in 1984. He now heads up the London Workplace studio, is sector champion for the practice and is currently designing a range of architectural and urban design projects, ranging from individual city centre office and mixed use buildings to major master planning regeneration schemes both in the UK and overseas. Among Tim’s recent designs is the BBC Birmingham project which won the British Council for Offices ‘Best of the Best’ award.
