Barb Jungr

With rave international reviews and two New York awards, British jazz and cabaret artist Barb Jungr is renowned for her unique vocal style, interpretation of song and radical approach to arrangements. Her acclaimed 16 plus releases on Linn Records, Naim Label and Kristalyn and “revelatory” live performances have wowed audiences worldwide.

In 2016 Linn released Shelter From The Storm - Songs of Hope for Troubled Times, Jungr’s collaboration with virtuosic contemporary jazz pianist, Grammy award winning Laurence Hobgood.

With renowned MD, pianist and arranger John McDaniel, she records and tours their Beatles’ collection, Come Together, on both sides of the Atlantic. This CD is released in October 2016.

Jungr has collaborated with contemporary classical composer Mark Anthony Turnage and The London Sinfonietta, toured Africa and Asia, and has appeared frequently in Australia, Europe and Scandinavia. She performs regularly in New York and across the United States (with several seasons at The Cafe Carlyle, Metropolitan Room and Joe’s Pub New York, at Catalina’s in LA, at the Razz Room/Feinsteins at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, and in Indianapolis, Cleveland and Austin.

Barb co-adapted We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with director Peter Glanville and wrote the music and songs for the Little Angel Production which has toured for the last 4 years since opening to rave reviews there. She is writing the songs and music for Polka Theatre’s upcoming production of How To Hide a Lion. She has been Artistic Director of Corby’s Deep Roots Tall Trees project since 2011, where she mentors local musicians and songwriters and performs with them and the Deep Roots Tall Trees Choir.
