Sorcha Uí Chonnachtaigh is a Lecturer in Ethics and Law in the School of Law and a member of the Centre for Law, Ethics and Society (CLES) at Keele University. She has a BA in Philosophy & Classical Civilisations, an MSc in Equality Studies and a PhD in Bioethics.

Her doctoral research focused on ethical issues arising from the prospect of embryonic stem cell research in Ireland and she has an interest in the ethics of scientific and medical technologies and their impact on and in society, particularly from an equality and justice perspective. Recently, Sorcha has begun research that addresses the role of social institutions (like medicine and the law) in regulating sex, gender and sexuality.

Sorcha is also an unapologetic and friendly feminist.
