Chris was initially a volunteer air pollution campaigner for Birmingham FOE before taking on general transport issues across the West Midlands conurbation. This was in addition to working for an environmental consultancy on contaminated land and industrial water issues.

Chris holds a degree in Applied and Environmental Chemistry from Portsmouth Polytechnic. Since graduating he has worked in the manufacturing sector in the West Midlands, South Wales and Belgium. He has also travelled extensively before returning to the West Midlands in 1989. Chris joined Friends of the Earth staff in January of 1994 and is currently based in Birmingham, with responsibility for FOE’s activities across the West Midlands region.

Chris has been involved with many of FOE’s national and international campaigns as well as issues closer to home such as Birmingham Northern Relief Road aka M 6 Toll, Birmingham International Airport, numerous waste burners, regional planning, the regional economic strategy and a whole host of local campaigns from across the region.
