Steven Edwards

After working as a psychiatric nurse, Steven Edwards left nursing to pursue undergraduate study at Manchester University where he completed a BA (hons), M.Phil and PhD in philosophy. Since 1995 he have been working at Swansea University where he is now professor.

Steven has published books on relativism, philosophy of mind, nursing ethics, nursing philosophy, and disability and have published over 60 academic papers. He recently hosted a symposium on the relationship between brain death and organ transplantation (funded by the Wellcome Trust), and some of the papers from this are to appear in a special issue of the journal Clinical Ethics (RSM publishing). With Professor Thomas Schramme, Steven is currently preparing a Handbook of Philosophy of Medicine (Springer publishing) to appear in 2014. In addition to his research regarding the definition of death, Steven is currently researching into the Welsh-language publications of the philosopher Professor J.R.Jones.
