Dr Susana Araújo

Susana Araújo (PhD Sussex, MA Warwick, 1st degree Lisbon) is an appointed researcher at the Centre for Comparative Studies at Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. She lectures for the Program in Comparative Studies.

She is the Principal Investigator of Project CILM - City and Insecurity in Literature and the Media, a three-year project funded by FCT (Portuguese research funding agency). For more information please see http://www.cilm.comparatistas.edu.pt/
She coordinates the research group LOCUS (Spaces, Places, Landscapes) at CEC, a group which embraces national and international projects.

She is co-editor of the book, Trans/American, Trans/Oceanic, Trans/Lation: Issues in International American Studies (2010) and (In)seguranças no Espaço Urbano: Perspectivas Culturais (2012) [translated title: Insecurities in the Urban Space: Cultural Perspectives]. She is the editor of a special issue on “Terror and Security” for the Review of International American Studies (2008/2009). She has articles published in recognised peer-reviewed journals such as Atlantic Studies, Symbiosis, Studies in the Novel, Women’s Studies, Critical Survey. Many of her essays have also been published as chapters in international book volumes.

She is the author of the poetry book Dívida Soberana, shortlisted for the Prize Revelação frpm APE (Associação Portuguesa de Escritores; Portuguese Association of Writers) in 2012.
