Gareth Sturdy
Physics teacher at The Physics Factory

A passion for physics as ‘the dreams that stuff is made of’ is what brought Gareth into teaching in the 1990s after graduating from Liverpool University. As the best teachers are those who also have experience of life outside of the classroom, he has also spent time as a Fleet Street journalist and run his own public relations business. His educational roles have included head of physics at one of the country’s leading grammar schools, and helping to establish the innovative East London Science School. He also runs the Physics Factory which aims to put the fizz back into physics teaching. He is organiser of the IOI Education Forum and writes on education and science for spiked magazine. His spare time is taken up with his two sons, reading William Blake and walking across London.
