Dr Jan Macvarish

Jan Macvarish is a sociologist at the University of Kent, working with the Centre for Parenting Culture Studies. Her research focuses on the study of interpersonal relationships, parenting, family life, health, sex and intimacy. She is the author of the new book Neuroparenting: The expert invasion of family life (Palgrave Macmillan) and co-author of Parenting Culture Studies (Palgrave Macmillan). She has published research on contemporary singleness, teenage pregnancy and parenthood, the regulation of fertility treatment, the use and abuse of neuroscience and is currently researching the work and identity of doctors involved in abortion.
