Anna Barnouw

Anna Barnouw is the programme officer at Felix Meritis, European centre for arts culture and science where she organises debates about topics such as the state of law, active citizenship and civil society, the economy, the arts, culture, philosophy, corporate social responsibility and (international) politics. Like Felix Meritis, Anna feels strongly about the need for ongoing cultural diversity and understanding as an engine of progress and social cohesion.

Anna holds a Masters in Political Science with a specialisation in International Relations and is based in Amsterdam.

What makes life sacred?

"I have been doing the Battle of Ideas for a couple of years, but never before have I felt so heartened and so alive as the day ended. The spectacle of so many fascinating minds, none too proud to agree, none too modern to disagree, all at work on the most important questions of this rocky period: it's enough to make you believe there's hope for the species, yet."
Zoe Williams, columnist, Guardian; author, What Not to Expect When You're Expecting
