Professor Steve Tsang

Steve Tsang is Director of the China Policy Institute and Professor of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, University of Nottingham, UK. He had previously worked as Professorial Fellow, Dean, and Director of the Asian Studies Centre at St Antony’s College, Oxford University, where he earned his D.Phil. 

Professor Tsang has published very extensively on the politics, international relations, security and history of the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. They include 16 books of which five are single authored. He has coined the term ‘consultative Leninism’ as a conceptual tool for understanding the nature of politics in the People’s Republic of China.
