British Retail Consortium

Throughout 2015, the BRC has been considering the impact of the UK retail industry and its operations by asking some tough questions. What are the roles and responsibilities of retailers in supply chains as well as society as a whole? Will retailers ever be able to meet the expectations of UK consumers when market dynamics are ever changing? Supporting the Battle of Ideas presents an opportunity to return to some of these issues and reflect on other pertinent questions. Over the next two days, many of the topics covered will shape the context in which retailers operate and have a direct bearing on their customers and wider communities. I am confident that this year’s Battle of Ideas will once again deliver more thought-provoking debate.

Energy futures: how can we keep the lights on?

"Although 'battle' suggests destruction, these were some of the most constructive debates I've taken part in. This was civilised conflict in the best sense of both words."
