Young Arab Voices

The Young Arab Voices programme (YAV), initiated and steered by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the British Council is seeking to root the debate culture among young people and to develop their critical faculties through focusing on developing skills and opportunities for youth-led debate and advocacy across the Middle East and North Africa.

Since 2011, the YAV programme alone has engaged more than 90,000 youth (from Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco) in debate opportunities, and contributed to policy dialogue with local, regional and international institutions.

Energy futures: how can we keep the lights on?

"Five debates a day sounds a bit daunting beforehand, but I really loved it. The speakers are so knowledgeable and passionate about their chosen topic, and the amount of time dedicated to questions from the audience was great as it really brought in alternative views."
