Dr Katrina Brown

Dr. Katrina M. Brown is founding Director of The Common Guild, Glasgow, which presents a programme of artists’ projects, events and exhibitions, both in its current premises and in non-gallery settings. She was also Director of the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art in 2010 and 2012, including the commissioning of major public projects by Susan Philipsz (‘Lowlands’, 2010) and Jeremy Deller (‘Sacrilege’, 2012). In 2013. The Common Guild curated the ‘Scotland + Venice’ exhibition for the 55th Biennale di Venezia, with an exhibition of new works by Corin Sworn, Duncan Campbell and Hayley Tompkins.

From 1997 until 2007, she was Curator and Deputy Director of Dundee Contemporary Arts, which opened in 1999, where she curated major solo projects with Scottish and international artists alike as well as a number of significant group exhibitions.  She was Associate Curator to the major, nation-wide project ‘GENERATION: 25 years of Contemporary Art in Scotland’ that took place in 2014.
