Clare Melford

Clare is an experienced CEO in the private and not for profit sectors. Originally trained as a management consultant she spent 8 years in the media industry, 4 year based in Sweden as MD of the Nordic business for MTV Networks.

Following an “early 30s crisis”, a spell growing mangoes in Panama, meditating in India and sailing in Kenya, Clare moved to the UK and worked for a variety of NGOs in the environmental, foreign policy and women’s rights areas. As CEO of the International Business Leaders Forum, a global business membership organization with offices in Russia, China, India and the UK,  Clare pioneered a “Redefining Growth” agenda. This redefinition of growth was aimed at encouraging companies to make their growth strategies Smart, Inclusive and Responsible.

Currently Clare works freelance as an interim senior executive and organizational consultant to a range of commercial and NGO clients.

Clare combines a business career with an interest in spirituality, sometimes with curious results. She spoke about this on BBC Radio 4 FourThought programme “Buddha in the Boardroom”.

Clare is also the recipient of the Enlightened Society Award for “Transformative Contribution to Society” by the Shambhala organisation.

Why are we afraid to judge?

"Five debates a day sounds a bit daunting beforehand, but I really loved it. The speakers are so knowledgeable and passionate about their chosen topic, and the amount of time dedicated to questions from the audience was great as it really brought in alternative views."
