Dr Jenny Barrett teaches Film Studies at Edge Hill University in the North West of England, where she is Reader in Film Studies and Popular Culture. Her book, Shooting the Civil War: Cinema, History and American National Identity was published by I.B. Tauris in 2009. As well as the topic of American Civil War cinema, she has published on the Western, racial representation, genre and gender. Over 2014-15 she has worked with the University of Manchester and the University of Central Lancashire to host a range of events entitled ‘Art, Culture and Ethics in Black and White: 100 Years of D.W. Griffith’s The Birth of a Nation.’ |
